About this position

The University of Bergen’s Department of Clinical Science is offering a full-time PhD position as part of the Onko-mAb project, focusing on the personalization of treatment with therapeutic monoclonal antibodies across various clinical indications. This three-year position is funded by the University of Bergen and provides an exciting opportunity to join an interdisciplinary team of physicians, chemists, mathematicians, pharmacists, and clinical collaborators. The research aims to develop pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic models for therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and assess the clinical relevance of drug concentration measurements and modeling results. The project may also expand to address immune-mediated adverse effects of these therapies through interdisciplinary working groups.

As a PhD candidate, you will be immersed in a strong professional environment, contributing to high-quality research recognized internationally. The position offers a competitive salary (NOK 570,000), with higher rates for applicants with medical or dental qualifications, and includes enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund and comprehensive welfare benefits. The role is based in Bergen, Norway, and is a fixed-term appointment for three years.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Pharmacy, but degrees in molecular biology or medical technology are also considered. Knowledge of pharmacological principles, experience in relevant research projects, scientific publishing, laboratory work, and analytical methods are advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English and provide documentation of language skills. For applicants educated outside Norway, certified translations of diplomas and transcripts are required, along with a review from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) to verify equivalence to a Norwegian master’s degree. Admission to the University of Bergen’s PhD programme is mandatory within three months of starting the position.

The application process requires submission of a brief account of research interests and motivation, certified copies of diplomas and transcripts, documentation of language skills, a complete list of publications, and two references. Diversity and inclusivity are valued, and applicants from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. For further information, contact Trond Trætteberg Serkland at [email protected].

Apply online via the JobbNorge portal by 14 May 2026. For more details on HK-dir recognition and language requirements, visit HK-dir and UiB language requirements. The position offers excellent development opportunities in a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
