PhD position in Plant Mechanobiology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, in the Majda Lab (Department of Plant Molecular Biology).

The project is part of the SNSF Starting Grant project Beyond division: How endoreduplication impacts multiscale growth coordination in plants. The research explores how endoreduplication influences plant growth by shaping cell wall properties, cellular behavior, and tissue mechanics, connecting molecular activity to tissue form and development.

Research themes and methods include plant biology, biomechanics, quantitative biology, genetics, high-resolution imaging, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, flow cytometry, transcriptomics platforms, extensimetry, micro-indentation, atomic force microscopy, image processing, and modeling software. The successful candidate will contribute to transgenic line generation, genetic screens, confocal microscopy, quantitative image analysis, reporter lines, cell cycle markers, and time-lapse imaging.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a Master’s degree in molecular biology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related field. Interest in genetics, quantitative biology, or mechanobiology is desirable. The lab is looking for a curious, motivated, and enthusiastic candidate who can work across disciplines.

Funding: The post is a PhD research position linked to an SNSF-funded project. No stipend amount is stated in the post.
