About this position

The Institute for Property Law at KU Leuven, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Vincent Sagaert and Prof. Dr. Dorothy Gruyaert, is offering a full-time PhD position in the field of property law. The Institute is part of the Research Unit Private Law and coordinates teaching assignments as well as research activities related to private and public real estate law. As a PhD candidate, you will conduct original research in property law, contribute to national and international academic publications, and participate actively in the Institute's research community. You will also provide limited teaching support, including practical exercises and seminars within property law.

Applicants must hold a Master in Law and have distinguished themselves academically with excellent results. It is recommended that candidates suggest a doctoral research topic and provide a brief explanation as part of their application. The position offers a full-time contract starting 1 September 2026 for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of four years.
