About this position

Doctoral (PhD) student position in Reproductive Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, in the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB).

This PhD is part of the OffTheCharts research programme, focused on maternal and fetal health inequalities, especially among migrant populations. The project uses Swedish nationwide registry data to evaluate clinical standards in reproductive healthcare, develop and assess predictive models, and improve healthcare tools for diverse populations.

The work sits at the intersection of reproductive epidemiology, perinatal epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, and health data science. The doctoral student will conduct epidemiological research using large-scale registry data, perform data management and statistical analysis, apply advanced modelling techniques, publish scientific articles, and present findings. The student will also participate in seminars, journal clubs, and collaborative research activities.

Eligibility highlights: a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, health data science, or a closely related field; strong English proficiency; and experience with statistical programming in R, Stata, or Python. Experience with large datasets, cohort or registry data, statistical modelling, and prior work in reproductive or perinatal epidemiology are desirable.

Funding: fully funded doctoral studentship for 4 years full-time, with salary and benefits according to Swedish doctoral employment standards.

Application window: deadline is 12 May 2026. Apply via the Varbi recruitment system and submit a personal letter, CV, degree projects/publications if available, and documents proving doctoral eligibility and English proficiency.
