A PhD position is available in the group of Assistant Professor Aditi Borkar at the University of Nottingham, focusing on the structure and stability of mRNAs in solution, formulation, and cells. The research is at the intersection of RNA biology, biophysics, and drug discovery, utilizing advanced techniques such as OrbiSIMS, cryo-EM, and AFM to uncover the structural rules governing mRNA function. The project also explores innovative freeze-drying formulations to potentially eliminate cold-chain dependency in vaccine supply chains, contributing to equitable healthcare access globally.

This interdisciplinary project is conducted in collaboration with AstraZeneca and the University of Kent, offering cross-institutional supervision and access to state-of-the-art facilities. Training will be provided in RNA and cell biology, advanced analytical methods, and data analysis.
