About this position
TU Wien, Austria's largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a PhD position as University Assistant Prae-Doc at the Institute of Mechatronics and Power Electronics. The role is based in the Research Unit of Power Electronic Systems and is limited to four years, with a workload of 30 hours per week. The successful candidate will conduct research on the experimental and model-based analysis of traction converter control, assist with teaching duties and exams, supervise students, participate in research projects and industry collaborations, prepare a dissertation and high-quality publications, attend academic events, and support organizational and administrative tasks.
Applicants must have completed a relevant master’s or diploma program in electrical engineering. Preferred qualifications include knowledge in artificial intelligence and Python, power electronics with a focus on hardware, electric drives, or control engineering, and experience in power electronics circuit design and simulation. Excellent German (B2) and English (B2) language skills are required. Experience with scientific research, interest in applied power electronics, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking are also expected.
The position offers a wide variety of tasks in a collegial team, hybrid working style with up to 60% teleworking, attractive social benefits, extensive training opportunities, and various career options. The workplace is centrally located and easily accessible by public transport. Entry level salary is determined by pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff, with a minimum of EUR 2,832.10/month gross, paid 14 times per year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experience may increase the monthly income.
