About this position
The Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is offering four fully funded PhD positions in advanced process control, optimization, and modelling. These positions are based at the Institute of Information Engineering, Automation and Mathematics and focus on interdisciplinary research combining process systems engineering, control theory, and data-driven approaches. The research topics include set-based control of nonlinear systems, modelling and optimal operation of membrane processes, robust optimal experiment design, and development of reliable and explainable models for industrial monitoring, optimization, and control.
Successful candidates will join a dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and opportunities for international collaboration and engagement with industrial partners. The positions offer full-time PhD employment with a competitive salary according to Slovak regulations, participation in interdisciplinary and application-oriented research projects, and support for career development and scientific publishing.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering, control engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. Essential qualifications include a strong background in systems modelling, optimization, or control, programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar), excellent English proficiency, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and motivation for interdisciplinary research. Experience in nonlinear systems and control, process modelling and simulation, optimization methods and numerical techniques, data-driven modelling and machine learning, and experiment design and uncertainty analysis is advantageous. Candidates must also meet the admission requirements for PhD studies at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
To apply, submit your CV, motivation letter indicating preferred research topic(s), academic transcripts and diplomas, and contact details for at least one reference via email to [email protected].
