About this position

The CLIMES Doctoral Network (CLIMES DN) is recruiting 14 PhD students across Europe to address the urgent scientific challenge of understanding and predicting the impacts of climate extremes under global change. This Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) network brings together leading universities, research institutes, and non-academic partners to provide interdisciplinary training at the intersection of climate science, health, environmental modelling, data science, and risk assessment.

Open positions include:

  • Health Data Science at Karolinska Institutet: Focus on climate extremes, vector-borne diseases, and quantitative analysis of large datasets.
  • Climate and Environmental Data Science at University of Cyprus (KIOS): Application of large-scale climate datasets to environmental and infrastructure systems.
  • Climate Impact Modelling at Uppsala University: Quantitative modelling of climate impacts in meteorology and environmental analysis.
  • Climate Impact Storylines at Uppsala University: Interdisciplinary research combining meteorology, hydrology, and data analysis.
  • Flood Impact Forecasting at Uppsala University: Forecasting flood impacts using environmental data and modelling.
  • Climate Extremes and Risk Assessment at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology: Advanced modelling of climate extremes and associated risks.

The network seeks talented MSc graduates in climate science, physics, statistics, data science, environmental health, hydrology, and related fields. Applicants should have strong quantitative skills and experience with large datasets or modelling. Funding is provided through the MSCA Doctoral Network, offering competitive salaries, mobility allowances, and research support.
