About this position
Technical University of Munich (TUM), Chair of Corporate Management, is inviting applications for two full-time PhD positions in the broad area of financial literacy or sustainability. The positions are based in Munich, Germany, and are offered as funded TV-L E13 contracts until 31 May 2028.
The research environment is interdisciplinary and combines corporate strategy, behavioral economics, personnel economics, sustainability, empirical research methods, econometrics, causal inference, data science, and programming. A specific project component involves the development of a financial literacy application, so applicants with iOS/app development experience are especially encouraged.
Applicants should hold a master’s degree in Economics, Data Science, Management, Business and Economics Education, or a related field. The role also requires strong quantitative skills, including statistics and econometrics, plus programming ability in Python, R, or similar languages. English proficiency at C1 level minimum and German at B2 level are required. Teamwork, communication, and interest in behavioral economics, financial literacy, or sustainability are important.
Responsibilities include conducting PhD research leading to publications in leading journals, presenting at international conferences, teaching and supporting Bachelor’s and Master’s courses, supervising student theses, collaborating with academic and industry partners, and contributing to project management for the financial literacy app.
The positions are fully funded and include structured training, professional development, publication support, conference opportunities, and partial remote work by agreement. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, and references if available. The deadline is 30 June 2026, and applications should be emailed to [email protected].
