The MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) is offering several fully funded PhD positions for 2026, focusing on interdisciplinary research in human health. The Team Science PhD programme addresses major challenges such as nucleic acid sensors in ageing-associated inflammation and reproductive health, including fertility, ageing, sex, and environmental factors. Additionally, a core PhD project is available in protein engineering, aiming to design and screen proteins to tackle agricultural and medical challenges.

Supervisors for these projects include leading scientists from LMS, Imperial College London, University of Tübingen, and University of Edinburgh. The research areas span biology, medical science, chemistry, computer science, physics, mathematics, and agriculture, with a strong emphasis on AI-driven discovery, genetics, and molecular biology.

Successful applicants will join a vibrant research community, receive a tax-free stipend of £26,500 per year for four years, full tuition coverage, consumables funding, and visa support for international students. The programme is open to candidates of all nationalities with a first or upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject. A Master’s degree or equivalent research experience is preferred. Applicants must also meet Imperial College London’s entry and English language requirements.
