The University of Brighton School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering is offering two PhD research positions in the field of Intelligent Robotics and Autonomous Systems. The available topics are: (1) Intelligent Control of Drones (UAVs), focusing on advanced control algorithms for UAVs with applications in inspection, monitoring, and autonomous aerial missions; and (2) Path Planning and Obstacle Avoidance for Autonomous Robots, addressing real-time path planning, sensor fusion, and AI-driven obstacle avoidance for ground robots in dynamic environments.

Applicants should have a Master's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink, a solid understanding of control systems, and a demonstrated interest in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are required. The positions are open to UK Home students and self-funded international candidates.
