PhD Positions in Molecular Plant Science at Max Planck Institute and University of Potsdam Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology and University of Potsdam in Germany

The International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Plant Science (IMPRS MolPlant) is offering 5 fully funded PhD positions in molecular plant science. The program is hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology and the University of Potsdam, located near Berlin, Germany. Research in this program covers a wide range of topics including genetic, molecular, cellular, metabolic, and physiological processes of plant growth, development, reproduction, and interactions with other organisms and the environment. Key research areas include molecular biology, genetics, epigenetics, metabolomics, biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, microscopy, and bioinformatics.

Doctoral candidates will join an interdisciplinary and international research environment with English as the working language. The program offers state-of-the-art facilities and supervision by IMPRS faculty, with additional guidance from an advisory committee. Research projects will begin in the second half of 2026, between June and December. The positions are fully funded for 3 years, with the possibility of extension, and include health insurance and social benefits.

Applicants should be highly qualified and motivated, with a strong academic record and an MSc or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
