About this position

Robert Bosch GmbH is advertising two PhD openings in life sciences with strong industrial research relevance. The projects combine precision medicine, protein diagnostics, biochemistry, molecular biology, microfluidics, and lab-on-chip system development.

Open PhD topics: (1) Innovative Sample Technologies in the field of Precision Medicine, focused on automated isolation, enrichment, and library preparation from diverse clinical specimens for next-generation sequencing (NGS). (2) Next-generation protein diagnostics for healthcare applications, focused on developing a novel protein assay for the Vivalytic point-of-care platform.

Research environment: The work is carried out in close cooperation with a highly interdisciplinary and international team. The projects involve designing, building, optimizing, and validating automated workflows in microfluidic environments, with attention to quality/quantity checkpoints, assay technologies, recognition molecules, coupling and detection strategies, and system integration.

Eligibility highlights: Applicants should have an excellent master's degree or equivalent in technically oriented biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, technical biology, or a closely related life sciences field. Relevant experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, NGS-relevant techniques, protein biochemistry, immunoassays (e.g., ELISA), antibody/mimetic engineering, and microfluidic or lab-on-chip systems is preferred. Strong independence, structured working style, hands-on mentality, creativity, and very good German and English skills are required.

Funding/employment: These are full-time PhD positions at Bosch Research / Robert Bosch GmbH. No stipend amount is given. The final PhD topic is subject to the university.

Application: Apply through the SmartRecruiters links provided in the post. Prepare a CV, motivation letter, certificates, and optionally GitHub or Kaggle links. Start date is by prior agreement.
