The Gen-Q 2nd Call offers multiple fully funded PhD positions in Quantum Sciences & Technology at leading partner universities across the Upper Rhine region, including the University of Basel (Switzerland), Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (Germany), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), University of Haute Alsace (France), University of Strasbourg (France), and University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). The program is part of the MSCA COFUND project under Horizon Europe, providing international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral doctoral training for 48 months.

Research areas include quantum science and technology, quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum hardware and software, and hybrid quantum computing. Core challenges addressed by the program are overcoming noise in quantum devices, scaling complexity in qubits and sensors, and developing advanced quantum hardware and software. The program encourages interdisciplinary approaches and collaboration with the non-academic sector, offering access to workshops and partner institutions.

Eligibility is open to candidates of any nationality who have not resided or mainly worked/studied in the country of the recruiting university for more than 12 months in the past 36 months. Applicants must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) eligible for doctoral studies and must not already possess a doctoral degree. All application documents must be submitted in English as a single PDF file, including a motivation letter, CV, reference letter (not from a future supervisor), ethics self-assessment (template provided), and a copy of the Master's degree (transcripts alone are not sufficient).
