The university is a vibrant, international research institution with a strong interdisciplinary and multilingual character, located at the heart of Europe and closely connected to European institutions and Luxembourg’s financial centre.

The research may be conducted solely at the University of Luxembourg or as a cotutelle with another university. The doctoral researcher will also contribute to teaching activities, including small group sessions and tutoring within the Legal Clinic, for one to three hours per week.

The university offers a modern, inclusive atmosphere, with staff from over 90 countries, and is a member of The Guild of European Research Intensive Universities. Facilities and research support are of high quality, and there are strong links to professional sectors and the Luxembourg job market.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in private law and possess excellent communication and writing skills. A minimum B2 level in the thesis language is required, with accepted certificates listed on the university’s admissions page. The position is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, full-time (40 hours/week), with an annual gross salary of 43,445 EUR.

To apply, candidates should submit a CV, motivation letter detailing their interest and fit for the topic, transcripts of all university modules and results, and the name, contact details, and current position of one referee. Early applications are encouraged as review is rolling. Applications must be submitted online via the official HR system; emailed applications will not be considered.

The University of Luxembourg promotes an inclusive culture and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds, committed to equality and respect for all staff and students.
