The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) is offering two DAAD-funded PhD scholarships as part of the Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP) for the research program 'Contentious Politics in the Digital Age' (CoPoDi). This program investigates how digital technology and media influence political activism, social movements, and socio-political conflicts, with a special emphasis on the Global South. Research topics include social media and protest dynamics, text-based analysis of political discourse, audiovisual communication in activism, and agent-based modeling of protest dynamics. The program encourages projects that use computational methods, digital data sources, and innovative approaches to analyze political protest and activism. The faculty includes leading scholars in political science, communication studies, and computational social science. The scholarship is fully funded for 48 months, covering stipend, tuition, and health insurance. Applicants must have a relevant master's degree and a strong fit with the research interests of the supervisors.
