About this position
The University of Alicante is seeking applications for a PhD Senior Researcher (Investigador Sénior) to join the Department of Physical Chemistry, collaborating with the Research Group in Semiconductor Photochemistry and Electrochemistry (GFES). This position is part of a funded research line focused on (photo)electrochemical processes and materials applied to energy conversion, with reference I-PI 35-26.
The successful candidate will engage in advanced research on electrochemical systems for energy storage, electrocatalytic materials, and the development of materials and processes for fuel cells. Responsibilities include coordination of international collaboration projects and dissemination of research results. The role offers a full-time, open-ended contract with a competitive gross monthly salary of €3,400.00, inclusive of extra monthly payments.
Applicants must hold or be in the process of obtaining a PhD (Spanish MECES level 4 or EQF level 8) in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science. An undergraduate degree in chemistry or equivalent, plus an official Master’s degree (Spanish MECES level 3 or EQF level 7), is required. Candidates with foreign qualifications must provide official approval or a statement of comparability, along with supporting documents and sworn translations if necessary. Additional eligibility criteria include Spanish nationality or legal residency, proficiency in an official language of the Valencia Region, minimum age of 16, and compliance with public employment regulations.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in electrode materials preparation, design and use of electrochemical cells and reactors, materials characterisation techniques, and electrochemical methods such as galvanostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and impedance spectroscopy. Experience in coordinating research projects is also valued.
Applicants must submit their application electronically via the University of Alicante's academic research staff recruitment portal (Apply Here). The university's standard CV format must be used and attached in the 'Modelo currículum' section. All required documentation, including proof of qualifications and translations, should be included. The full terms and conditions of the call are available online (Terms and Conditions).
The application deadline is 29 May 2026, 23:59 (Europe/Madrid). For further information, contact [email protected] or visit the University of Alicante website (www.ua.es).
This opportunity is ideal for researchers seeking to advance their career in physical chemistry, materials science, and energy conversion technologies within a dynamic and collaborative academic environment.
