About this position
The Institute of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Münster, led by Prof. Tim Lämmermann, invites applications for a PhD student position focused on immune cell dynamics and organelle metabolism. The institute is part of the Centre of Molecular Biology of Inflammation (ZMBE) and is embedded within a vibrant research environment, participating in several research networks and local initiatives such as CRC1450, TRR332, and SFB1348. The research program centers on investigating single cell and population dynamics during innate immune responses, with particular interest in neutrophil extravasation and organelle dynamics/metabolism in immune cells.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international team, working alongside several research groups (Lämmermann, Rambold, Stegmeyer) and benefiting from state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, including advanced microscopy systems. The position offers excellent opportunities for career development, including integration into local graduate programs and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Responsibilities include conducting experimental investigations using cell biological, immunological, biochemical, and microscopy methods, documenting data and results, and preparing a PhD thesis. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in natural sciences (preferably cell biology, biochemistry, or immunology), demonstrate a strong commitment to research, and have a background in cell biology, immunology, and inflammation. Experience in confocal microscopy, live cell imaging, working with immune cells, molecular biology techniques, immune cell dynamics, cell migration, organelle biology, and/or metabolomics is advantageous. Complete vaccination against measles is required by law for employment.
The position is fixed-term for 3 years (part-time, 65%) with salary according to TV-L E13. Applications from women and handicapped candidates are especially encouraged. The application deadline is December 10, 2025. For more information, contact Prof. Dr. T. Lämmermann at [email protected]. Apply via the career portal and include a CV, a short letter of motivation, publication record, and contact information for two references.
