About this position

The Centre of New Technologies at the University of Warsaw is offering a PhD student position in the Biomolecular Machines Laboratory, led by Dr Monika Wojciechowska. The research project focuses on the development of new antibacterial agents based on lytic enzymes produced by bacteriophages, aiming to address the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group whose research bridges chemistry, physics, and biological sciences, providing a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for scientific development and international collaboration.

The project involves organic synthesis, biochemical, and biophysical studies of peptides and proteins, with a strong emphasis on chemical biology and protein engineering. Applicants should have an MSc degree in chemistry, organic chemistry, biological chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related discipline, and must obtain confirmed PhD student status by the project start date.

Experience in organic synthesis and biochemical or biophysical studies of peptides or proteins is highly desirable. Good English language skills are required. The position is funded by the National Science Centre SONATA BIS 13 grant, and the selected candidate will receive a stipend. The application deadline is 30 November 2025, with the project starting on 1 January 2026.

To apply, candidates should submit the required documents, including the internal application form, to Dr Monika Wojciechowska via email. The results will be announced not earlier than 15 December 2025, and notifications will be sent by email and posted on the CeNT UW web page.
