The university is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, uniting natural and engineering sciences with the humanities, social sciences, and medicine. The "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, specifically the Institute of Railway Systems and Public Transport and the Chair of Railway Track Engineering, is offering a position for a Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x).
This position focuses on academic research and teaching in the planning and design of railroad systems, with a particular emphasis on the application and further development of digital planning methods such as Building Information Modeling (BIM). The successful candidate will participate in both national and international research projects, engage in communication with international students, and contribute to publications for international conferences. The role is designed to support the pursuit of a PhD and offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth expertise in railway infrastructure and digital engineering methods.
The position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of extension, and is funded at 50% of full-time weekly hours (potentially increasing to 100% depending on research funding). Remuneration is according to salary group E 13 TV-L. Additional benefits include flexible, family-friendly working hours, the possibility of remote work, a subsidized job ticket for local transport, opportunities for professional and personal development, and access to university sports courses. TUD Dresden is committed to diversity and inclusion, actively encouraging applications from women and candidates with disabilities.
Applicants should hold a university degree in transportation engineering, railway system engineering, civil engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in industry-standard planning software and a good command of both German and English are required for teaching and research activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate independence, commitment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
