PhD studentship opportunity in AI-enabled supply chain resilience in food manufacturing at Queen's University Belfast, working with the Food Consortium CTP and industry partner Samworth Brothers.
The project focuses on supply chain mapping, artificial intelligence modelling, data science, and risk modelling to assess and monitor resilience in food manufacturing supply chains. The successful student will work with complex industrial datasets, collaborate with supply chain and technical specialists, and develop methods that produce timely, decision-ready insights for industry.
This is a fully funded 4-year PhD (48 months). Funding includes UK tuition fees, an enhanced annual UKRI stipend of £21,805 tax free for October 2026 entry, and an additional £1,800 per year industrial top-up.
Eligibility: UK Home students only. Applicants should normally hold a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, or a good honours degree plus a Masters degree. The opportunity is especially suitable for candidates from data science, computer science, engineering, supply chain analytics, or related quantitative disciplines.
Start date: October 2026. The project also offers cohort-based training, industrial engagement, and wider professional development through the BBSRC Food Consortium CTP.
