PhD Opportunity at Leeds Beckett University in physical activity, menopause, and health inequalities.

This fee-waiver PhD studentship is hosted by the cross-school PERIMENO Research Group at Leeds Beckett University and focuses on improving physical activity awareness and provision for people experiencing menopause across Leeds and surrounding areas.

Research themes include participatory action research (PAR), co-creation, community-led impact, menopause wellbeing, creative qualitative methods, local provision mapping, lived experiences, and evaluation of community initiatives.

Funding: full PhD tuition fees are covered for three years. Applicants will need to cover living costs themselves (for example via a UK doctoral loan or other funding).

Eligibility / fit: candidates should be interested in full-time doctoral study starting 1 October 2026 and comfortable working with community-based, participatory, and qualitative approaches. Relevant interests include public health, sports science, psychology, sociology, and education.
