About this position
PhD Thesis Offer 2026–2029 in Orléans, France at the Center for Molecular Biophysics (CBM, CNRS UPR 4301), L’COSB team, University of Orléans.
The project focuses on lanthanide-based metal-organic frameworks (nanoMOFs) for near-infrared (NIR) biological imaging and therapy. The research combines chemistry, materials science, photophysics, and bioimaging, with applications in targeted imaging of cancer and neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
Key research directions include the design, synthesis, and characterization of nanoMOFs containing Ln³⁺ ions; functionalization with antibodies or peptides for targeted imaging; organic sensitizers and coordination complex synthesis; photophysical studies and NIR luminescence characterization; bioconjugation; and live-cell/tissue imaging without ionizing radiation.
The selected candidate will be enrolled in the doctoral school Health, Biology, Biochemistry (SSBCV) of the University of Orléans. The position is financially guaranteed for three years, starting October 1, 2026.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a Master’s degree in chemistry, inorganic/organic chemistry, materials science, or a related field. Prior training in MOFs, lanthanide coordination compounds, luminescence spectroscopy, and microscopy is an advantage, but not a strict prerequisite. Motivation in nanomaterials, bioimaging, and photophysics is emphasized.
How to apply: send a CV, contact details for two referees, a motivation letter, and bachelor’s and master’s grades. Questions can be directed to Prof. Stéphane Petoud and/or Dr. Svetlana V. Eliseeva by email.
Deadline: May 4, 2026.
