About this position

The London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme (LIDo) is now accepting applications for fully funded PhD positions at the Royal Veterinary College, in partnership with seven other leading London universities. This prestigious 4-year programme is designed for graduates with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research spanning biological, biomedical, veterinary, physical, computational, engineering, and mathematical sciences. Students can join via the DTP route, which includes two 4-month research rotations in different partner institutions, or the iCASE route, which involves direct entry into an industrial collaborative project and a placement with an industry partner.

Applicants must have a first or high upper second-class undergraduate degree or a relevant Masters, demonstrate numeracy, and provide evidence of English proficiency if applicable. The programme encourages candidates with interdisciplinary experience or motivation, especially those interested in combining experimental and computational approaches. LIDo is funded by the BBSRC and does not support clinical or medical research on humans, focusing instead on biosciences and related fields.

Funding includes 26 BBSRC studentships covering home fees and a stipend of £22,780 per annum, with up to 7 international studentships covering full overseas fees. Additional institutionally funded places and self-funded options are available. International students should note that visa and relocation costs are not covered.

Applications open on 13th October 2025 and close on 10th December 2025. Prospective students are encouraged to attend information sessions and review application guidance on the LIDo website.
