The Nachmani Lab at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is seeking a highly skilled and motivated post-doctoral fellow for an ERC-funded project in hematology. The research focuses on the role of cell-type-specific ribosomes in regulating hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) function, aiming to uncover how ribosome specialization impacts translation, differentiation, and maintenance of HSCs. The project combines molecular biology techniques, in-depth analysis of HSCs, and in-vivo experiments using mouse models, including bone marrow transplantation. The Genetics Department at the Life Sciences Institute, part of the Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Science, provides a collaborative and diverse environment for research in genetics, epigenetics, and cell biology. Dr. Daphna Nachmani, the supervisor, leads research on RNA modifications and translation regulation in hematopoietic stem cells, with a focus on gene expression in normal blood cell development, leukemia, and viral infections. Her lab utilizes advanced methods such as ribosome profiling, RNA modification sequencing, and CRISPR-based screens. The position offers an annual salary of 120,000 NIS (approximately 3,300 USD), fully funded by an ERC grant.
