Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a post-doctoral assistant position within the Department of Biomedical Molecular Biology (WE14), Faculty of Sciences. This opportunity is ideal for researchers seeking to advance their scientific career in biomedical molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, pharmacy, and related fields. The department is renowned for its cutting-edge research and technological expertise, providing a stimulating environment for academic and professional growth.
The postdoctoral assistant will dedicate at least 70% of their assignment to high-level scientific biomedical research, joining one of the department's research groups. The successful candidate will counsel Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral students, and contribute to public outreach on biotechnology and biomedical molecular research topics.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Biology, Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioscience Engineering: Biotechnology, or a relevant subject as determined by the selection committee. The degree requirement must be fulfilled at the start of the appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should have prior research experience in biomedical molecular biology, demonstrated promise as a researcher, practical wet-lab experience, theoretical knowledge of molecular (cell)biological techniques, and strong communicative and didactical skills in Dutch and English. Interest in coaching students and a record of relevant scientific publications are expected. Experience with scientific meetings, supervision of practical courses, students, and lab technicians is advantageous.
The position offers a temporary appointment for three years, with the possibility of extension for another three years upon positive evaluation.
