Post-doctoral Assistant in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (Biobank for Gynaecological Tumours) Ghent University in Belgium

Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a post-doctoral assistant position within the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This opportunity is ideal for researchers with a strong background in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or bioscience engineering, and a keen interest in oncology and biobank development for gynaecological tumours.

The successful candidate will dedicate at least 70% of their assignment to academic research, contributing to the development and follow-up of a biobank for gynaecological tumours. Additional responsibilities include assisting in teaching activities at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, counseling Master’s and doctoral students, and engaging in science communication and public outreach. The position also involves acquiring or demonstrating knowledge of clinical study regulations and Good Clinical Practice.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree based on a dissertation and a relevant master’s degree. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Experience in oncology research is considered an asset, and candidates should have a record of promising research and relevant scientific publications. Strong communication, social, and organisational skills are essential, along with an interest in coaching students and science communication.

The appointment is temporary for three years, with the possibility of extension for another three years upon positive evaluation.
