About this position

IMT Atlantique, a leading general engineering school within the Institut Mines-Télécom group in France, is offering a 24-month fixed-term post-doctoral fellowship in diffusion neuroimaging. The position is part of the Mocodev (Model of Cortical Development) project, which aims to implement a new model of human cortical development. The successful candidate will join the Data Science Department (DSD) and work under the functional supervision of Professor François Rousseau, collaborating with project members including Guillaume Auzias (CNRS, INT Marseille).

The primary research focus is the design and development of innovative approaches for reconstructing fetal diffusion MRI data. Responsibilities include implementing and validating reconstruction algorithms, studying the geometry of fiber bundles and sulcal pits, and contributing to open-source software following FAIR principles. The project offers a major scientific challenge, high-level collaboration with Inserm and neuroscience experts in Marseille, and opportunities for international publication and open science dissemination.

Applicants must hold a PhD in image processing, computer science, artificial intelligence, or neuroimaging, obtained within the last three years. Essential skills include medical image processing, machine learning, multidimensional data analysis, MRI analysis (diffusion, tractography, segmentation), and scientific software development under Linux (Git, high-performance computing). Candidates should demonstrate autonomy, scientific rigor, initiative, and teamwork, and possess a high level of proficiency in scientific English.

The position is based at the IMT Atlantique Brest campus, offering an exceptional waterfront environment and a commitment to environmental and societal transitions. Benefits include an indicative salary of €35,800 gross per year (with reduced employee social security contributions), on-site cafeteria, leisure and sports offers, public transport subsidies, sustainable mobility package, family allowance, a wide range of social benefits, partial teleworking, and a generous leave package. The contract is a 24-month fixed-term (CDD) under public law, renewable, and open to civil servants and contract employees. Accommodations are available for candidates with disabilities.

Applications should be submitted via the online portal. For job content questions, contact Professor François Rousseau ([email protected]); for administrative queries, contact Mélissandre Morvan ([email protected]). The application deadline is July 1, 2026, with interviews conducted on a rolling basis. The contract start date is September 1, 2026.
