About this position

This postdoctoral position at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, offers an exciting opportunity to advance global detection techniques for oxygenated organic radicals in ambient air and other complex systems. Oxygenated radicals are crucial in diverse chemical processes, including metabolism, polymerisation, combustion, and atmospheric chemistry, yet their detection remains challenging, especially in complex environments. The successful candidate will join the Nozière group in the Department of Chemistry, focusing on both the operation and troubleshooting of existing detection methods, such as chemical amplification, and the development and characterization of new techniques for laboratory and field applications.

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, with eligibility confirmed by the time of employment. Essential qualifications include documented experimental experience with gas flow systems and instrument development or troubleshooting. Strong written and oral communication skills in English are required, as well as problem-solving abilities, motivation, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred candidates will have completed their doctoral degree within the last three years, possess knowledge of atmospheric chemistry or gas-phase kinetics, and demonstrate awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, particularly gender equality.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is a leading international technical university, committed to education, research, and innovation for a sustainable society. The institution offers a creative and dynamic environment, attractive benefits, and values equality, diversity, and equal opportunities as integral to its core values. The postdoctoral appointment is full-time, temporary (up to two years), and focuses primarily on research as a first career step after dissertation. The position is based in Stockholm, with a monthly salary and good working conditions.

To apply, candidates must log into KTH's recruitment system and submit a complete application by July 2, 2026. Required documents include a curriculum vitae, a copy of the PhD diploma (translated into English or Swedish if necessary), a list of publications, and a brief cover letter (maximum two pages) outlining motivations, scientific interests, and future goals. Additionally, three letters of reference should be sent directly to Prof. Barbara Nozière. Applications must be received by midnight CET/CEST on the deadline date. Please note that some positions at KTH may require security clearance under Swedish law, and employment is contingent upon approval if applicable.

This position is ideal for candidates seeking to contribute to cutting-edge research in radical detection, atmospheric chemistry, and environmental science, while developing their skills in a supportive and innovative academic environment.
