University College Cork (UCC) invites applications for a 12-month, full-time Post-Doctoral Researcher position in the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences (BEES) and the MaREI Centre. The project, titled 'Analysis of seabird & marine mammal population status in coastal South-Southwest Ireland,' aims to conduct a comprehensive desktop study on the conservation status of seabirds and marine mammals in the region. The research will focus on identifying species with evidence of local or regional population declines, analyzing prey preferences and requirements, and assessing whether these needs are currently being met.

The successful candidate will engage in stakeholder activities to collect both qualitative and quantitative data, analyze the information, and report on the findings. The project offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to conservation biology and environmental science, working within a vibrant research environment at UCC and the MaREI Centre.

Applicants must possess a PhD or equivalent in environmental science, biology, or a related discipline, and demonstrate excellent English language skills. Experience in conservation research, population analysis, and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable. Garda vetting and/or international police clearance may be required as part of the selection process. Please note that completion of PD1 or PD2 levels in another Irish Higher Education Institution may affect eligibility for this post.

The position is funded with a salary on the IUA PD1 Salary Scale (€46,805 - €53,391 per annum), in accordance with public sector pay policy.
