About this position
The University of Copenhagen invites applications for two funded postdoctoral positions focused on advancing the use of artificial intelligence in cancer treatment. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Radiology at Rigshospitalet, under the leadership of Associate Professor Bulat Ibragimov. The project aims to develop innovative AI algorithms for medical image and clinical report analysis, with a primary focus on cancer diagnosis, treatment planning, and outcome prediction.
Successful candidates will contribute to multimodal data integration, combining imaging, clinical, and treatment-related information to improve patient outcomes. The research scope also includes modelling clinician behaviour, such as eye-tracking analysis, and methodological development in medical image analysis, with the goal of creating broadly applicable techniques for healthcare AI.
Key objectives include developing and validating new AI algorithms for cancer patients treated with radiation, collaborating with clinical experts, and publishing research findings in high-impact journals. Responsibilities encompass conducting research on algorithmic AI development for image and text analysis, testing AI algorithms on clinical data from Rigshospitalet, and working within interdisciplinary teams of AI and cancer treatment experts.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, with a strong background in AI, machine learning, and statistical modeling. Excellent programming skills, particularly in Python, and practical experience with machine learning models are essential. Candidates should be ambitious, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience with explainable AI in medicine is preferred.
The position is fixed-term for two years, starting from 15 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Terms of employment are governed by Danish academic staff agreements, with the possibility of negotiating a salary supplement. The University of Copenhagen values diversity and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
To apply, submit your application electronically via the provided link, including your CV, diplomas (Master and PhD), research plan, complete publication list, and reprints of three relevant papers. The deadline for applications is 17 May 2026. For further information, contact Associate Professor Bulat Ibragimov at [email protected].
