About this position

Postdoc in AI Methods for Financial Economics at Copenhagen Business School, Department of Finance.

This is a 2-year postdoctoral research position starting around August 1, 2026 (negotiable). The project is part of a research program led by Professor Niels Joachim Gormsen at CBS in collaboration with Professor Kilian Huber at the University of Chicago, and is funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.

The research focus is on AI methods, large language models, textual analysis, and financial economics. The postdoc will help extract economic insights from corporate texts such as earnings calls and filings to study firms’ cost of capital and investment behavior. The role is fully devoted to research and includes no teaching obligations.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in computer science, economics, finance, or a related field. Strong programming skills, experience with large datasets, and the ability to use AI/LLMs for data extraction are required. Excellent English proficiency is also required. Experience in NLP, text mining, financial economics, or macroeconomics is desirable, as is evidence of research potential through publications or working papers.

The position offers a travel budget for conferences and research visits and provides the opportunity to pursue an independent research agenda alongside the main project. The selected candidate is expected to be physically present at the Department of Finance on a regular basis.

Application deadline: 2026-05-11. Apply via the electronic recruitment system using the provided link and include the requested documents: summary of strengths, publication list, up to five publications for review, copies of marked publications, research/industry collaboration information, documentation of original research, transcripts, and CV.
