About this position

Aarhus University is offering a postdoctoral position in DNA/RNA nanotechnology for cell regulation, based at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) in Aarhus, Denmark. This ERC-funded project (BioRIcON) focuses on developing nucleic acid-based artificial motors and devices for precise regulation of key cellular processes. The research involves designing and assembling nucleic acid-based interlocked motors and switches, operating them in cellular settings, and exploring their biomedical applications for reversible control of cell function.

The position is for one year, with the possibility of extension, and offers access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, nanoscience, nanotechnology, medicinal chemistry, or a related field, with experience in nucleic acid chemistry, bioconjugation, and DNA/RNA nanotechnology. Skills in cell assays, single-molecule microscopy (EM, TIRF, AFM), aptamer development, binding assays, confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry are advantageous. Strong communication skills, motivation, and proficiency in English are required.

The successful candidate will join the Valero lab, which collaborates with leading scientists in biomedicine, virology, and synthetic biology. The center supports career development and offers a vibrant international research community. Salary is competitive and determined by seniority, following Danish collective agreements. The application deadline is 15 January 2026. For more information, contact Assistant Prof. Julián Valero ([email protected]). Applications must be submitted via Aarhus University’s recruitment system, including all required documents and referee details.
