About this position
Wageningen University & Research is advertising a Postdoc in high-throughput microfluidics for protein functionality measurement within the Food Process Engineering chair group. The position is part of the EU Future Foods project / MicroProTAIn-related work and focuses on developing microfluidic devices and experimental workflows for high-throughput screening of protein functionality.
The successful candidate will bridge experimental microfluidics and modelling to design a system that can operate across a wide range of process conditions. The research is aimed at understanding how small-scale processes relate to food product stability over longer time scales, with a strong application in alternative proteins and more sustainable food production. The postdoc will also manage project activities, coordinate with academic and industrial partners, supervise BSc and MSc thesis students, and contribute to scientific papers and conference presentations.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in chemical, food, or biotechnology (or a similar field); strong experimental skills in microfluidics; a solid technical background; good communication skills; and English at C1 level. The post is based at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands and is supervised by Professor Karin Schroën.
Funding and contract: this is a salaried postdoc role with a gross monthly salary of €3,546–€5,538 for a full-time 38-hour week, under Dutch university collective agreements. The initial contract is for one year and may be extended depending on performance and project circumstances. WUR also highlights employee benefits such as leave options, pension, and campus facilities.
Application window: applications are accepted until 7 May 2026. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply before 16 April 2026. Applications must be submitted through the WUR vacancy portal.
