Postdoctoral Research Fellow opportunity in Microbiology / Antifungal Resistance at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria.

This fully funded postdoc is based at the Institute of Molecular Biology, within the Antifungal Therapeutics and Resistance Group, and focuses on the molecular mechanisms of azole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus. The project is centered on transcriptional regulatory circuits in fungal pathogens and uses advanced approaches in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and omics.

Research methods mentioned include RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, fluorescence microscopy, genetic engineering, cloning, RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, and protein biochemistry. The role also includes dissemination through publications and conference presentations, supervision of MSc and PhD students, and contribution to grant writing.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD or equivalent in Life Sciences (for example Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry), strong experience with fungal cell culture and genetic engineering, and excellent English skills. German is helpful but not required.

The appointment is for an initial 2-year period, full-time (40 hours/week), with a competitive gross salary of about €70,200.20 per year plus social benefits and career development support. The expected start date is 1 October 2026. Application deadline: 30 June 2026.
