About this position
Amsterdam UMC is recruiting a postdoc for the project Neuroimaging of Neurotransmitter-Network Interactions in Psychiatry, led by Anouk Schrantee (Associate Professor, Amsterdam UMC). The position sits in the Neurometabolic and Functional Imaging Lab in the Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine and is part of a Vidi project exploring how neurotransmitter systems relate to functional connectivity and psychiatric treatment.
The research combines 7T MRI, fMRI, fMRS, and MRSI to study how neurochemistry shapes large-scale brain networks, both at rest and during experimental interventions. The postdoc will work in an interdisciplinary environment with physicists, computational neuroscientists, and clinicians, and will also help co-supervise a PhD researcher.
Applicants should have a PhD in neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, physics, engineering, or a related field. Strong experience in MRI data analysis is expected, preferably including MRS and/or fMRI, along with strong quantitative, statistical, and programming skills. Experience with multimodal data integration, modelling, fMRS signal characterization, scientific writing, and mentoring is valued. Experience with MRI pulse programming, especially on Philips systems, is an advantage.
The role is a paid postdoctoral appointment at Amsterdam UMC Research BV. The contract is for 12 months initially, with the intention to extend to at least 2.5 years total. Salary is listed at €3,598–€5,669 gross per month for full-time employment, plus an end-of-year bonus and standard employment benefits.
Deadline: 23 June 2026. Applications are reviewed continuously and may close early if filled. Interested candidates should apply via the vacancy page and contact Anouk Schrantee for scientific questions.
