The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL, part of the ETH Domain, is seeking a PostDoc in Soil Carbon Biogeochemistry (90-100%) for a 20-month position within the Soil Biogeochemistry group. This opportunity is embedded in the SNSF-funded RootForC project, which investigates the contribution of roots to soil organic matter in European forests under global change, and is linked to the CLEANFOREST COST Action. The research focuses on the transfer and residence time of root-derived carbon in soils, utilizing stable isotopes, radiocarbon, and organic matter property analyses. The project involves close collaboration with scientists at WSL and other European institutions, and aims to link experimental datasets to environmental variables across climatic and nitrogen deposition gradients.

Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental sciences, soil science, microbiology, or related disciplines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, self-motivation, an aptitude for field research and data analysis, and a commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research. Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required. The position offers 90-100% employment for 20 months, with salary and benefits according to WSL/ETH Domain guidelines.
