Ruhr University Bochum is advertising a PostDoc / scientific staff position in the Urban Ecology and Biodiversity Working Group led by Prof. Valentin Klaus at the Department of Geography.

The project focuses on urban biodiversity promotion, ecosystem services, and the renaturation of urban green spaces in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The work combines field ecology, laboratory work, interviews/social data, statistical analysis, publication of results, and transfer to practice and science. The post is especially relevant for candidates interested in urban ecology, geography, biology, ecology, GIS, and social-ecological research.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position for 3 years at TV-L E13 (100%). The post is based at Ruhr University Bochum and is described as a research role with strong interdisciplinary collaboration, including work with the Universities of Münster and Bielefeld.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in physical geography, landscape ecology, biology, or a related field; experience in ecological research and statistical analysis; good English; and good German is explicitly desired for communication with local stakeholders. GIS experience, knowledge of Central European grassland flora, identification of additional ecological taxa, socio-ecological methods, and independent field/lab experience are advantageous.
