About this position

Linköping University in Sweden is offering a postdoctoral position in Virtual Knowledge Graph Integration, hosted at the Knowledge-Driven Data Management Lab (KDMLAB) within the Department of Computer and Information Science. The research focuses on the fundamentals of knowledge graphs and virtual data integration, including querying federations of knowledge graphs and integrating heterogeneous data sources. The successful candidate will work with Senior Associate Professor Olaf Hartig, a leading expert in Semantic Web and Knowledge Graph technologies, and will benefit from a collaborative environment with access to advanced computing infrastructure and the National Supercomputer Centre.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) by the time of employment decision. Required qualifications include a strong research background in relevant areas such as Databases, Information Systems, Semantic Web, Linked Data, or Knowledge Representation, evidenced by scientific publications. Candidates should have strong programming skills or the ability to develop formal abstractions and prove formal results, and must be proficient in English. Highly advantageous qualifications include publications in top venues on related topics, experience with Semantic Web technologies (RDF, SPARQL, SHACL, RML), and programming experience in Java.

The position is full-time for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. Salary is individually negotiated, and employment benefits are provided. The expected start date is preferably during Spring 2026. The application deadline is March 15, 2026. Duties primarily involve research, with up to 20% teaching and opportunities to supervise students. The research will contribute to the development of HeFQUIN, an open-source query federation engine.

To apply, candidates should submit their application via the Linköping University portal, including selected research publications. For publications that cannot be sent electronically, three sets should be mailed to the University Registrar. For further details, refer to the official vacancy page. Contact persons include Olaf Hartig ([email protected]) and HR partner Sandra Malmström ([email protected]).
