About this position

The University of Cologne, one of Europe's largest and oldest universities, is offering a postdoctoral position in optical condensed matter science at the Institute of Physics II, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The position focuses on Raman spectroscopy applied to quantum magnets and quantum materials, with an emphasis on many-body physics and non-equilibrium dynamics. The optical condensed matter physics group is actively involved in collaborative research within CRC 1238 “Control and Dynamics of Quantum Materials”, providing a vibrant and international research environment.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will conduct advanced research using magnetic and electronic Raman spectroscopy as primary tools to investigate quantum materials. Responsibilities include presenting and disseminating research results at scientific conferences and in publications, supervising undergraduate and PhD students, and participating in teaching activities within the institute.

Applicants must have a PhD in physics, several years of postdoctoral research experience, and expertise in Raman scattering in quantum materials. An excellent academic track record, strong command of English, teaching experience, motivation, commitment, communication skills, and team spirit are essential.
