Postdoc / Research Associate in Penile Cancer, Tumor Immunology and Immunometabolism University Hospital Tübingen in Germany

University Hospital Tübingen is advertising a Research Associate / Postdoc position in the Department of Urology for a project on penile cancer. The research focuses on tumor immunology, immunometabolism, mitochondrial biology, and the effects of pembrolizumab on mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming in macrophages in the context of penile squamous cell carcinoma.

The project includes advanced in vitro work with patient-derived penile cancer cells and human monocytes/macrophages, monocyte isolation, differentiation, co-culture and conditioned media approaches, functional macrophage assays, mitochondrial assessments, and high-resolution proteomic/phosphoproteomic analyses. The role also involves data processing, bioinformatic analysis, interpretation, manuscript writing, conference presentations, and contributing to third-party funding applications.

Eligibility highlights: extensive mammalian cell culture experience; ideally experience with immune cells and tumor cell lines; strong skills in immunological and molecular methods such as flow cytometry, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and Western blotting; desirable experience with cell sorting, high-parameter flow cytometry, or RNA-seq; strong publication record; excellent English; and a clear interest in translational cancer research.

Funding and contract: full-time position at TV-L E13, limited until 30.09.2027, with start of work on 01.09.2026. Interview expenses are not covered.
