PostDoc/Scientist on Bitumen Chemomechanics Empa in Switzerland

The position focuses on advancing the future of sustainable asphalt pavements through innovative research in binder aging reduction, development of alternative binders, bitumen emulsions, and binder recycling. The successful candidate will manage research projects, collaborate with partners, engage stakeholders, and report to funding agencies, while also contributing to international forums and grant applications.

Applicants should possess a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, along with strong management and communication skills. Expertise in asphalt binder chemical and mechanical characterization, production process optimization, and scalability considerations is essential. Familiarity with asphalt mechanical performance and pavement design concepts is advantageous. The role requires a highly motivated, self-driven team player with excellent English communication and writing skills; knowledge of German is a plus.
