About this position

Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Chemistry/Physics under the supervision of Prof. Taleana Huff.

The role is centered on experimental research in surface science, STM/AFM, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems, and related nanoscale characterization methods. The successful candidate will lead experimental design and research direction, maintain and develop UHV scanning probe microscopy systems, collaborate with academic and industry partners, mentor students, and publish and present research findings.

Preferred expertise includes a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related area; strong hands-on experience with atomically resolved scanning probe microscopy, cryogenic systems, and surface science; and programming skills such as Python and LabVIEW. Additional valuable experience includes TERS, quantum colour centre characterization, AFM, optically based charge dynamics measurements, and ultra-fast optics.

The appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of extension. Compensation is stated as a minimum of $51,475/year plus benefits, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health benefits and childcare support.

This is a strong fit for candidates seeking a postdoctoral opportunity in experimental physics/chemistry, surface and interface science, and advanced microscopy instrumentation at a Canadian research university.
