About this position
Duke University School of Medicine, ranked among the top medical schools in the United States, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for a grant-funded position focused on computational approaches to malaria parasite antigen diversity. The successful candidate will join the Malaria Collaboratory, a multidisciplinary team spanning Duke, Johns Hopkins, Moi University, KEMRI-Welcome Trust Research Program, and a field site in Kenya.
The research centers on developing and implementing data-driven methods to study malaria transmission, immune development, and vaccine design, leveraging innovative longitudinal datasets that capture complex parasite genetics in both human and mosquito hosts, as well as human immune responses. The postdoctoral fellow will lead project activities, including refining analytic approaches, conceptualizing research questions, implementing best practices in data analysis, communicating findings with project partners, engaging with field collaborators, and drafting manuscripts. The position is based at Duke University in Durham, NC, with opportunities for significant collaboration and time spent at the field site in Kenya.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field, ideally in a quantitative discipline such as epidemiology, bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, or engineering. Preferred qualifications include experience or understanding of high-dimensional data analysis, genome-scale analysis, genetic data analysis, epidemiology, translational research, and molecular epidemiology. Advanced programming skills, especially in R, and strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential. Candidates from statistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, molecular biology, and immunology backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Duke University offers a competitive salary starting at USD $64,170, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, paid time off, retirement programs, and tuition assistance. The university fosters an inclusive and collaborative culture, supporting professional development and scientific impact. For more information about benefits, visit https://hr.duke.edu/benefits/.
