About this position

The Laboratory of Neuroepigenetics at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in bioinformatics or computational biology. This position is designed for a highly motivated researcher with expertise in computational analysis of large-scale transcriptomic datasets, particularly in the context of psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidate will be supported in applying for a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) and/or an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship, with comprehensive institutional support for proposal preparation and project development.

The research group focuses on the roles of non-coding RNAs and epigenetic modifications in brain disorders, with a primary emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease, Schizophrenia, and stress-related psychiatric conditions. The lab integrates advanced transcriptomics, functional genomics, and disease modeling to connect molecular alterations with disease phenotypes, aiming to develop novel RNA-based therapeutic interventions. The interdisciplinary environment at the Bio-Medical Campus offers access to unique datasets from established psychiatric and dementia cohorts and fosters strong international collaborations.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing computational pipelines for transcriptomic data analysis, performing integrative multi-omics and network-based analyses, collaborating with experimental colleagues on target validation, preparing scientific publications, contributing to grant applications, and presenting findings at international conferences.

Applicants must have a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or a related field, with strong programming skills in Python and/or R, experience in RNA-seq data analysis, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Excellent English communication skills are required. Additional experience with small RNA sequencing, network analysis, multi-omics integration, or high-performance computing is advantageous. Eligibility for the MSCA or EMBO fellowships is required, including specific criteria regarding postdoctoral experience and residency.

The position is contingent on successful fellowship award. The MSCA PF deadline is September 2026, and EMBO deadlines are in January and July each year. The institute offers a competitive fellowship allowance or stipend, 5 weeks vacation, 3 sick days, access to on-site gym and sports facilities, parking, bike storage, and on-site kindergarten. The Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences is an equal opportunity employer.

To apply, send your CV (with publication list), a brief statement of research interests (max 2 pages), and contact details for 2–3 references to [email protected]. Early contact is encouraged to allow time for joint proposal development. For more information, visit the lab website or the official position page.
