Postdoctoral Fellowship in Analytical Chemistry: VOC Profiling for Prostate Cancer Screening

This postdoctoral opportunity is based at ICOA (UMR 7311, CNRS), University of Orléans, France, and focuses on analytical chemistry, metabolomics, oncology, and biomarker discovery. The project aims to develop a non-invasive diagnostic approach for prostate cancer by profiling volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in urine and cell-culture samples.

The research involves development and optimization of sampling methods such as SPME and thermal desorption, GC-MS analysis (including QqQ and TOF platforms), data processing, biomarker identification, and chemometric analysis. The work is highly interdisciplinary and includes collaboration with biologists and clinicians, as well as scientific dissemination through publications and conference presentations.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in analytical chemistry is required. Applicants should have advanced expertise in mass spectrometry, chemometrics, and data processing, plus experience in gas chromatography and trace sampling techniques. The ideal candidate is autonomous, rigorous, and motivated to work in a research environment spanning chemistry, biology, and clinical science.

Funding: the position is funded by PAIR Prostate 2025. The appointment lasts 18 months and is renewable for one year. Salary follows the institution’s official pay scales and the candidate’s experience.
