About this position

The University of Porto, through its Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and the LEPABE research group, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to jointly prepare a competitive proposal for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026. The position is supervised by Cláudio Rocha, Junior Researcher at LEPABE, and focuses on advanced research in NH3 decomposition, catalysis, modelling, and membrane reactor technologies.

Research Areas: The project centers on the decomposition of ammonia (NH3), catalyst development, process modelling, and the application of membrane reactors. These topics are at the intersection of chemical engineering and materials science, with potential environmental and energy applications.

Eligibility & Requirements: Applicants must possess a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field by the call deadline (9 September 2026). Strong expertise in modelling, catalysis, and multifunctional reactors is essential. Candidates should have no more than 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience since their PhD award. Additionally, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Portugal for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the call deadline. All application documents must be in English, except for the PhD diploma, which may be in the original language.

Funding: The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity provided by the European Commission. It offers a competitive salary, mobility allowance, and research costs, supporting the fellow's career development and research excellence.

Application Process: Interested candidates should apply via the official MSCA PF Bootcamp website, selecting the Predefined Topic track and indicating Topic reference: 016/2026. Required documents include the application form, a recent CV (max 3 pages), and a copy of the PhD diploma or equivalent proof of completion. The application period runs from 19 January to 28 February 2026. For further information or questions, applicants can contact [email protected].

About the Institution: The University of Porto is one of Portugal’s most prestigious higher education institutions, with FEUP recognized for its excellence in engineering research and innovation. LEPABE is a leading research group within FEUP, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative environment for advanced research in chemical engineering and related fields.

This opportunity is ideal for postdoctoral researchers aiming to advance their expertise in catalysis, reactor engineering, and process modelling, while working in a dynamic and internationally recognized research environment.
