About this position

The Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) is seeking applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, based at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Established in 2021, YCNCC advances both fundamental and applied research aimed at enhancing natural Earth systems to develop safe, effective, and scalable methods for reducing atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. The Center's mission emphasizes ecological and social co-benefits, and its collaborative efforts span multiple departments and schools at Yale, including the School of the Environment, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The fellowship welcomes applicants with research interests in three main areas: Ecosystem Capture, Geological & Ocean Carbon Capture, and Industrial Carbon Utilization.

Successful candidates will be appointed as postdoctoral associates for an initial one-year term, with the possibility of extension for a second year based on satisfactory performance. The position offers a competitive stipend ($68,500/year), base research funds ($6,000/year), health care benefits, and limited relocation expenses.

Applicants must identify and contact a Yale faculty member willing to host their project and provide a letter of support detailing available research infrastructure, mentoring philosophy, and the project's contribution to Yale's research enterprise. The application package should include a full CV with bibliography, a research proposal (maximum three pages), two letters of recommendation, PDFs of 1-2 publications, and the faculty support letter. Selected candidates will be notified by the end of February 2026 and must accept or decline by March 31, 2026. The fellowship start date is between July 1 and December 31, 2026.

This opportunity is ideal for researchers interested in interdisciplinary approaches to climate mitigation and natural carbon capture solutions.
