The University of Stuttgart is seeking a Postdoctoral Group Leader (m/f/d) to establish and lead a new research group in Biofabrication & Digital Technologies at the Institute of Interfacial Process Engineering and Plasma Technology (IGVP). This position offers an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious early-career researcher to develop an independent scientific profile in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. The research group will focus on biofabrication, digital tools, and data-driven or AI-supported technologies, with potential projects including the development of novel bioprinting systems, process optimization, digital workflows, and the combination of plasma and biofabrication technologies. There is a strong emphasis on developing new research strategies, acquiring third-party funding, and supervising PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's students.

The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, infrastructure, and in-house workshops, as well as support from experienced scientific and technical staff. The position offers close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (IGB) and tailored support for scientific career development. The University of Stuttgart provides excellent opportunities for national and international networking, a competitive salary according to the TV-L collective agreement, and a full-time contract initially limited to three years. Applicants must hold a PhD in biofabrication, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, materials science, process engineering, or a related field. A strong research background in biofabrication is required, with experience in digital methods, data science, or AI-supported approaches considered an advantage. Initial experience in student supervision, project coordination, or research management is expected, though formal leadership experience is not required. Candidates should have a solid publication record, high motivation, creativity, and willingness to develop new research directions. Excellent English skills are required; German skills or willingness to learn German are an asset.
