Postdoctoral research associate positions are available in the group of Ashish Arora, Assistant Professor of Physics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune, India. These openings are funded through the National Quantum Mission (RA-1, 1 year) and the Chanakya Fellowship (postdoc, 9 months). The research focuses on experimental studies in magneto-optical spectroscopy, with a particular emphasis on investigations of 2D semiconductor and 2D magnet heterostructures.

Projects involve advanced instrumentation and research and development in the field of quantum materials, specifically ultrathin 2D materials that exhibit unique optical and magnetic properties. The group has a strong track record in optical spectroscopy, quantum materials, and the study of excitonic phenomena in atomically thin semiconductors. Recent work includes the development of methods for Faraday rotation measurements and the exploration of quantum processes in two-dimensional materials, as highlighted in recent publications in Nature and other leading journals.

Applicants must have hands-on experience in optical spectroscopy (required), with additional experience in 2D materials and semiconductors preferred. Familiarity with magnetism and magneto-optical spectroscopy is considered an asset. Candidates should hold a PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline. The positions are fully funded research appointments at IISER Pune, a leading research institution in India.
